Harrah's Lake Tahoe is a hotel and casino in Stateline, Nevada. It is branded with the name of its former owner and operator William F. Harrah. It is now owned by Vici Properties and operated by Caesars Entertainment Corporation (merger with Eldorado Resorts pending). The 18-story tower and 512 rooms, plus 65,000 sq ft (6,000 m2) casino make it one of the largest resorts at South Lake Tahoe.

Harrah's was first established in Lake Tahoe when William F. Harrah purchased George's Gateway Club in January 1955 for $500,000 and Harrah’s Lake Club opened on June 20, 1955, which it is now Harveys Lake Tahoe.
In 1956, Harrah’s Lake Club was sold for $5.25 million in cash to Harvey Gross, which at the time was the most expensive casino purchase ever. In 1958 Harrah acquired an interest in the Stateline Country Club and Nevada Club across the street (Harrah's current location) and opened Harrah's Stateline Club.
Also in 1956, a new radio station, KOWL, had its original radio studio inside the Harrah's Stateline Club. They were located on the upper floor. The station's transmitter and broadcast tower were roughly two miles south of the casino in South Lake Tahoe, California.
The South Shore Room opened at Harrah's Tahoe in 1959, at a cost of $3.5 million. This 750-seat showroom, whose opening act was comedian Red Skelton, made entertainment a priority at Harrah's. https://xtrabrown.amebaownd.com/posts/21757226.
Vocalist Ray Vasquez 1960-1964 sang in the South Shore Room for four years, without ever auditioning after being discovered working at the Silver Slipper by Bill Harrah’s wife Scherry Harrah.
In 1963, Barry Keenan, Joseph Amsler and John Irwin abducted Frank Sinatra Jr., the 19-year-old son of singer Frank Sinatra, after his performance at the South Shore Room opening for George Jessel.
Portions of the Bette Midler film Jinxed! were shot on location at the hotel in summer 1981 for the summer 1982 release of the film. Other locations used in the film were Harrah's in Reno and the Harrah's Auto Museum also in Reno.
Harrah had been planning to build a hotel at Lake Tahoe for many years, but had been hindered by costs. However, in 1971, when Harrah's went public, he finally had the finances available to build his dream hotel. In 1972, Harrah broke ground on his $25-million, 18-story, 250-room hotel which opened on November 9, 1973. Each 500 sq ft (46 m2) room was furnished with a fully stocked bar, bay windows, 2 bathrooms with TVs and telephones. It earned the first five-star diamond rating in casino history. But why exactly is it that our EV stays intact? To understand the mathematical reason behind this truth more deeply, it is helpful to look at a simplified example.
Let's imagine a made-up situation in which we have a flush draw, but instead of a full deck let's say there are only 8 cards left in the deck and only 2 of those cards will complete our draw. For simplicity's sake we will first attempt to run it once and then run it 4 times (so that we exhaust the entire deck). That way we can follow the numbers more easily, thus gaining intuition as to why they behave the way they do.
Here are our assumptions:
Hero has a spade flush draw on the flop and he will win if and only if he hits his flush draw
the deck has only 8 cards left, 2 of which are spades.
Question 1:What are the chances of Hero winning the hand by running it ONCE?
Probably the easiest way to answer this is by computing the 3 distinct winning scenarios for the Hero. Namely..
He hits the turn and misses the river: (2/8) * (6/7) = 0.214 or 21.4 percent
He misses the turn but hits the river: (6/8) * (2/7) = 0.214 or 21.4 percent (No surprise there: We just switched the '2' with the '6' — besides, the two scenarios are symmetrical)
He hits both the turn and the river: (2/8) * (1/7) = 0.036 or 3.6 percent
Thus, the total chance of winning the hand is: 21.4 + 21.4 + 3.6 = 46.4 percent
Not too shabby! Although we should note that this result is skewed upwards from the real thing, since we assumed 2 outs from 8 unseen cards, whereas in reality when we have a flush draw on the flop we have 9 outs from 47 unseen cards, which is significantly less.
Question 2:What happens if we run the entire deck? (for a total of 4 runs)?
Since there are just 2 spades left in the deck, there are only two possible cases:
Case 1: Hero wins 1 out of the 4 runs, or 25 percent of the pot (if both spades come in a single run)
Case 2: Hero wins 2 out of the 4 runs, or 50 percent of the pot (if the spades are spread)
Final Question:What is Hero's EV if we run it 4 times?
In order to answer this, we need to know how frequently each case happens.
It is easier to compute the relative frequency of Case 1. We already saw that hitting both the turn and the river happens 3.6 percent of the time. Thus, hero has 3.6 percent chance per run to hit both spades:
4 * 3.6 percent = 14.4 percent
Therefore, Case 1 happens 14.4 percent of the time (netting Hero a quarter of the pot). Meanwhile Case 2 must occur the remaining 85.6 percent of the time (netting Hero half the pot). When it comes to mathematical chance, a “quarter” is 0.25 and a “half” is 0.5. Thus a simple calculation shows that the expected value of hero running it 4 times is:
Conclusion:Hero's and Villain's EV were not affected by the multiple runs!
A Few Important Takeaways
In the scenario above, Hero 'deserves' exactly 46.6 percent of the pot. However, he never receives that exact amount. Instead he either receives 50 percent of the pot or 25 percent of the pot.
To be more specific, Hero receives less than he 'deserves' only 14.4 percent of the time. However, when that happens his “losses” are substantial, namely 46.4% - 25% = 21.4 percent. Meanwhile Hero receives more than he 'deserves' a whopping 85.6 percent of the time, but his 'gains' are tiny, just 50% - 46.4% = 3.6 percent.
Those last couple of points help reveal a rather common misconception among players who think that when they have a draw, they should run it multiple times. Their rational is that they have a higher chance to chop the pot. Although this is certainly true, what they may not realize is that they pay back that extra equity when they do not chop.
Although the scenario above is made up, it is nevertheless a risk-free bet for Villain who can never lose more than half the pot. Villain does sacrifice a bit of equity the majority of the time (85.6 percent), but Villain does get to keep three quarters of the pot once in a while (14.4 percent), making a huge profit! All that without having to risk ever losing the pot. One could say that Villain is perfectly hedged!
The above point also shows the benefits of running it multiple times with regards to reducing variance and consistent earnings. In other words, the more times we run it, the more frequently we get what we 'deserve' (or close to it).

Definitely true, but it's also possible the single line quarter machine would be set a 1-2% higher for return, so OP may still rather play those. And yes, paying on three blanks should help in theory. Also avoiding machines with 2X, 3X symbols, etc may help. Finding machines with nudging reels may also lower variance. But these bits of 'advice' may not always be true. According to Harrigan/Dixon, Double Diamond Deluxe (which has a 'positive' nudging feature, but a 'negative' double payout feature) has a SD of only 6.35 bets/spin. The Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City shut its doors Oct. 10, weeks away from the presidential election, reported The Associated Press.
Sep 10, 2019 Hard Rock Hotel & Casino is in Atlantic City, New Jersey and is open daily 24 hours. The casino's 120,000 square foot gaming space features 2,104 gaming machines and 147 table games. The property has nineteen restaurants, one bar and two hotels with 1,971 rooms. We visited Atlantic City for a 1 day trip. We visited Taj Casino and Hotel, didn't stay there so I cannot comment on the hotel rooms but the Casino was pretty much comparable to the Vegas casinos.
The Taj Mahal had one of the more famous poker rooms for a number of years and was a favorite reference and inspiration for scenes in the film Rounders (Brian Koppleman said the scene where Matt Damon faces off with Johnny Chan was inspired by his stint in the WSOP against Phil Hellmuth).
“It was the place that you could go play without violating any laws and where, if you were someone who wanted to get better at poker and study the best players, you were there,” Koppelman said to The Associated Press. He created Showtime’s TV show, Billions with Rounders writing partner David Levien. “If you were someone who wanted to hustle people, you could go there and find tourists to hustle.”
The casino opened in 1990 after poker became legal in New Jersey. According to the Associated Press, it was made into a popular destination after the U.S. Poker Championship in 1996 where top players laid down $10,000, making it the first tournament on the East Coast to match the financial caliber of the World Series of Poker.

The opening of the Borgata Casino in 2003 began the downfall of the Taj poker room, with poker rooms in Connecticut (with Foxwoods Casino taking some of the New York market), Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland accounting for the rest of the poker room’s usual action.
After closing for renovations in February 2015, the Taj Mahal opened back up in May. Two months later, a worker’s strike appeared to be the last straw for the casino.
In the casino’s final days, the controller was Carl Icahn, who told CNN it was a “sad day for Atlantic City.” After being unable to make an agreement with the striking union workers, Icahn couldn’t afford to run the casino, and so 3,000 workers lost their jobs instead with its closure just before 6 a.m. on Oct. 10.
Despite our best efforts, which included losing almost $350 million over just a few short years, we were unable to save the Taj Mahal.

CNN reported that the union workers were able to make deals with four other casinos in the city, including another that Icahn owned.
Donald Trump stepped down as chief executive officer over a decade ago, unloading the 17-acre (and over $1 billion to build) casino in 2009, according to Vanity Fair. He sued his own company to take his name off the casinos because the casinos did not meet his reputation and had fallen into a poorer conditions than he would have liked.
According to CNN, five other casinos have closed in Atlantic City since 2014, including Trump Plaza. Seven remain but two have filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection: Bally’s and Caesar’s. These closures have by and large been called Atlantic City’s casino crisis by AP. Icahn decided Aug. 3 to close down the casino after realizing it could bleed $100 million in the next year.
Trump Taj Mahal was not without its struggles; it had financial problems almost since its inception, according to CNN’s analysis of Trump documents filed with the state gaming authorities.
The 1990 New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement report showed that Trump financed the casino with junk bonds (unable to cover payments with gaming operation profits), had less than $0 in its account four of the first 16 days of operation and had deep deficits reaching $1.7 million.
I have personally lived through Trump's economy. Mine was one of the middle-class jobs Trump created, then subsequently destroyed.
The Taj Mahal would file bankruptcy three times due to interest payments forcing them into the red (despite operating profit): in 1991, in 2004, in 2009, according to CNN. Initially in 1990, the state approved a $65 million bailout after the fear of closing was thought to potentially threaten the Atlantic City economy.

One of the casino’s former cocktail watresses, Valerie McMorris, was one of the 3,000 employees out of work (the casino’s total is 11,000 jobs lost to date). She worked for the casino for 26 years and is a Unite-HERE Local 54 union leader, who expressed to Refinery29 how initially the casino took care of its employees but over time it turned into a bait and switch.
“I'm remembering the excitement and anticipation of that 20-year-old girl, standing on that stage among hundreds of perfumed and decorated women,” she said to Refinery29. “We were promised decent jobs and golden futures. But in the past 26 years, I have personally lived through Trump's economy. Mine was one of the middle-class jobs Trump created, then subsequently destroyed.”
What Donald Trump once called the “eighth wonder of the world” is now something that he told AP shouldn’t have happened.
“I felt they should have been able to make a deal,” Trump said to The Associated Press in another story. “It's hard to believe they weren't able to make a deal.”
Once the casino closes, Trump told AP it’s too expensive to reopen. Many employees who decided to strike told AP that they did not regret their actions and that this instance should give Icahn pause in the future.

Put most simply, pot odds represents the ratio between what you stand to gain in a hand of poker and what you have to spend in order to get it — that is, the ratio between your reward and your risk when making any given decision during a poker hand.

For example, if there is $80 in the pot and your opponent bets $20, that makes a total of $100 in the middle. That $100 is the reward you can get if you're willing to risk $20 to call the bet. Pot odds are expressed as a ratio (reward-to-risk). In this case you're having to risk $20 to win $100, so your pot odds are 100-to-20, or 5-to-1.
That's the scenario poker players most often describe when talking about pot odds — that is, when facing a bet and deciding whether or not to call or fold. You add the amount of the bet to what is already in the pot to calculate the reward, the bet you need to call represents the risk, and the pot odds 'being given' to call is that reward-to-risk ratio.
Of course, you can also talk about pot odds after a player raises. Say you decide not just to call that $20 bet described above, but to raise to $80. That would mean your opponent has to call $60 to have a chance at winning what is now $180 in the middle — 180-to-60 or 3-to-1 pot odds.
That might seem simple enough — a little bit of addition and an easy division problem, and you can calculate pot odds.
But why bother? There are lots of reasons.
One big reason why you want to stay generally aware of what your pot odds are — which means keeping track of how big the pot is at all times and being able to compare the pot size to each bet — is that doing so helps you estimate whether or not the pot odds being offered to you are favorable or unfavorable given the situation.
Let's look at three common circumstances in no-limit hold'em in which pot odds can be helpful when making decisions.
Using Pot Odds When Playing a Drawing Hand
Preflop Poker Odds
Say you are on a flush draw and have with the board showing . There is $120 in the pot, and your opponent has bet $60. You could call to see the river card, but are the pot odds favorable enough for you to make the call?
It's easy enough to see that the reward is $180 ($120 in the pot plus the $60 bet), and so with a $60 risk you are getting 180-to-60 or 3-to-1 pot odds. Is that good or bad?
You believe you probably have to make a flush in order to make a better hand than your opponent's, so that means you have nine outs — the nine remaining clubs — to make your hand. You can see six cards (the two in your hand plus the four on the board), leaving 46 unknown cards, so you can estimate your chance of seeing a club fall on the river to be 9 out of 46, or just over 4-to-1 against.
Compare your pot odds (3-to-1 to call) to the odds you'll make your flush (a little worse than 4-to-1 against). It's clear that calling isn't such a good choice — that the pot odds aren't favorable for calling — because over the long term calling is not a profitable play.
Let's say you were to make this call 100 times. About 20 times you'd make your flush on the river (actually a little less, but we'll round it up). You'd be risking $60 x 100 or $6,000. But your reward would only be $180 x 20 or $3,600. After making this call 100 times and winning only 20 hands, you'd have lost $2,400! (Note: we aren't considering what extra money might be won or lost after the river card, but just the profitability of this particular turn call.)
Pot odds are favorable when they are greater than the odds against making your hand. If the pot odds were 5-to-1 here, it would be a good call with it being just over 4-to-1 against making the flush. But 3-to-1 pot odds are unfavorable when drawing one card to make a flush.
Using Pot Odds to Decide Whether to Call a Preflop Raise
Pot odds can also be compared not just to a specific probability (like drawing to a flush), but also to a more general estimate of your chances in a hand.
Say for example you're playing $1/$2 no-limit hold'em and get dealt in the big blind. A player raises to $7 from the button and it folds to you.
First off... what are your pot odds here? There is $10 in the middle (the $1 small blind + the $2 big blind + the $7 raise), and you have to call $5 to stay in the hand. That's 2-to-1 pot odds.
Now, think about the prospect of playing out of position. It's a hand without a lot of potential that is almost certainly worse than whatever the player on the button who raised has. Unless you flop a couple of diamonds or perhaps trips or two pair, you're not likely to feel good about going very far with this hand. Are these 2-to-1 odds favorable?
No, they aren't. You could quantify this perhaps, noting how you with two suited cards you flop a flush draw about 11% of the time, you flop two pair about 2% of the time, and you flop trips about 1.3% of the time — that adds up to around 14% good flops, meaning it's worse than 6-to-1 against your seeing a good flop. That's just an estimate, really, but is obviously way worse than the 2-to-1 pot odds, so folding is in order.
What if a player raises to $7 from early position and five other players including the small blind call before the action reaches you in the big blind with your ? Now there's $44 in the middle and you have to pay $5 to see the flop. Those are almost 8-to-1 pot odds, which are in fact greater than the odds against your flopping something good — you might consider calling.
Using Pot Odds to Decide Whether to Call a Suspected Bluff
Pot odds can also be relevant when deciding whether or not to call what you think might be an opponent's bluff.
You've reached the river with your and the board shows . Your opponent raised before the flop and you called, and you called his bets on both the flop and turn. Now there's $100 in the middle and he's betting $50, giving you 3-to-1 pot odds to call.
You suspect strongly he could be bluffing, but you think it's possible he might have something like aces, kings, jacks, ace-queen, or king-queen and have you beat. While it's not feasible to calculate exactly the likelihood he's bluffing, you might be able to make a rough estimate — say, that he's probably bluffing at least a third of the time here.
That would make it 2-to-1 against your tens being best, making 3-to-1 pot odds favorable for you — a profitable call to make.

Poker Face is about many things. Lady Gaga has been asked many times the meaning of this song and she has given several different answers. First and foremost, it is obvious that lyrically Poker Face is about sex and gambling; or more specifically, sex, with the use of gambling metaphors. On at least one occasion she claimed that the song was about 'how she catches guys'.. that 'the second you let guys know you like them, they run away, so you've gotta keep your poker face.' However, by far the most interesting interpretation, that Lady Gaga claimed herself in an interview, is that the song is essentially about being bi-curious; she says that 'sometimes, when I was making love to my old boyfriend, I would think about women.' The lyrics 'Bluffin' with my muffin' are metaphorical for 'bluffing' with your vagina. 'I won't tell you that I love you, kiss or hug you'.. In these two verses, Gaga is basically saying that she is having sex with men but doesn't feel any emotional attachment for them whatsoever, to the point where she doesn't even feel ashamed to be thinking about women while having sex with a man. People assume that, purely because of this song, that Lady Gaga is a 'proven bisexual' or some such. While it matters little to me, all this song really proclaims is the act of being bi-curious. I wouldn't freak out too much about it all.

I read somewhere that this song is about lady gaga actually being interested in women. not necessarily a lesbian. just curious. The 'poker face' analogy being that to her boyfriend she obviously looks like she's straight but she's just got a 'poker face' on and is bluffing so that he doesn't find out that she's curious about women. I also read that it goes as far as when she's having sex with her boyfriend she's thinking about girls but I don't know if you believe that or not to be honest.

Casino Jack (known in certain territories as Bagman) is a 2010 comedy-dramathriller film directed by George Hickenlooper and starring Kevin Spacey. The film focuses on the career of Washington, D.C. lobbyist and businessman Jack Abramoff, who was involved in a massive corruption scandal that led to his conviction as well as the conviction of two White House officials, Rep.Bob Ney, and nine other lobbyists and congressional staffers. Abramoff was convicted of fraud, conspiracy and tax evasion in 2006,[3] and of trading expensive gifts, meals and sports trips in exchange for political favors.[4][5] Abramoff served three and a half years of a six-year sentence in federal prison, and was then assigned to a halfway house. He was released on December 3, 2010.
Spacey was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy for his portrayal of Abramoff, eventually losing to Paul Giamatti for his role in Barney's Version.[6]

Director George Hickenlooper at the film's screening during the 18th Annual Hamptons International Film Festival on October 8, 2010 in East Hampton, New York.
Filming took place in June 2009 in various locations across Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, including McMaster University and downtown Hamilton. The film was scheduled for release in December 2010 and premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.[7]
This was Hickenlooper's final film. He died on October 29, 2010, seven weeks before its scheduled December 17, 2010, national opening.[8]
